Travelling to Trieste:

  • For traveling to Trieste we recommend you to use international Venice airportThere are also other international airports nearby (all within 200 km of Trieste): Trieste airport, Ljubljana airport and the low-cosTreviso airport.

    From the Venice and Treviso airport, Trieste can easily be reached by train or bus. 
    (1) BY TRAIN: ATVO buses connect both Venice and Treviso airport to the V
    enice train station called “Venezia Mestre”, where one train leaves each hour for Trieste. The trip is about 2 h long. Please check the Trenitalia website for the schedule and tickets (note: be careful that few trains take almost 3 hours since they go first to Udine before reaching Trieste).

    Tickets can be purchased online or at the automatic vending machines on the train platform. Credit card and cash are both accepted.
    cost: ~10 EUR (ATVO bus), ~14 EUR (train Venice - Trieste), 

    (2) BY BUS: Direct connection to Trieste is provided by Flixbus buses or by shuttle service GoOpti, offering both shared and individual rides in addition to the choice of the pick-up/drop-off location.

    From the Trieste airport, which is located ~50km of Trieste, you can reach the city either by a public bus line G51 (duration: 50min) or by regional trains from “Trieste Airport” to “Trieste Centrale” (main railway station). Trains leave every 15 min. (duration: 30 minutes).

    NOTE:
    Bus number G51 is operated by 
    APT Gorizia bus company (website in Italian and Slovenian only). Bus G51 stops as well in Grignano, next to IFPU and the Adriatico Guest House, in addition to the end of the line at the central Trieste bus station.

    cost: 5 EUR

    Tickets can be purchased online or at the automatic vending machines on the train platform. Credit card and cash are both accepted.

Reaching IFPU from the center of Trieste:
 

  • BY LOCAL TRANSPORT: From the central train station (Trieste Centrale) the IFPU can be reached by bus number 6 or by few regional trains heading towards Venice (station “Miramare”).

    cost: 1.4 EUR (60 min ticket); 3.10 EUR (daily ticket)
    Tickets can be purchased online or at the automatic vending machines
     

  • BY TAXI: One-way taxi ride from the central station to the IFPU will cost roughly 15 EUR

Accommodation:

  • For a limited number of participants, we will be able to cover a full accommodation in Adriatico Guesthouse or in hotels located in the city centre.
